AirPods Not Connecting to iPhone? Try These Fixes
If your AirPods will not connect, start with simple Bluetooth and charging checks before resetting anything.
Follow these steps in order, stopping when the issue is fixed. Menu names may vary by model and software version.
Check charge and Bluetooth
Put both AirPods in their case and charge it for a few minutes. On your iPhone, open Settings, then Bluetooth, and make sure Bluetooth is on.
Try reconnecting
Open the case near your unlocked iPhone. If the AirPods are listed under My Devices, tap them to connect. If they are connected to another device, disconnect them there first.
Clean and inspect carefully
Check the charging contacts and case for visible debris. Wipe gently with a dry, soft cloth; do not put liquid into the charging ports.
Restart the iPhone
Restart your iPhone, then try connecting again. Software updates may also fix Bluetooth issues; check Settings > General > Software Update.
Forget and re-pair as a last step
In Bluetooth settings, tap the information button next to your AirPods and choose Forget This Device. Follow the pairing instructions for your AirPods model. This removes the previous pairing.
Helpful tip
If only one AirPod works, verify that both earbuds are charging and check the audio balance under Accessibility settings.
